Sluggish Saturday

It was last Friday evening when I was walking home from work, some absurd thoughts flash through my mind just then when I was waiting for the pedestrain lights to turn green so I could cross the road. I was thinking why do people look forward to weekend when we know that Monday is simply around the corner. Hmm. Excuse me for my Monday Wednesday Blues for sharing this. Having said that, I guess a 2 day break after 5 days of "hardcore" working is better than nothing at all, at least we get to rest up and revitalize our body and mind to welcome (hehe, usually in denial) the beginning of a new week.

I was being futile last weekend. Spent the whole Saturday loafing around despite I woke up at freaking 8.30 am! As much as I wanted to get more beauty sleep my body wouldn't compromise, subsequently followed by a growling stomach at 9 am, I got to compel myself to get up from bed and made myself a big bowl of cereal. The ordinary cornflakes mixed with Frosties and 2 packets of baby Oreo is my favourite breakfast for weekend. Scrumptious!

After assuaging my tummy, I continued to lie in bed and indulge in my collection of TVB dramas all over again. Generally, I enjoy rewatching series that I like and don't get bored too! I watched Forensic Heroes 3 again and still got all delirious when the scenes became intense. The next moment I checked the time it was already 3pm, time slips away just in a blink of an eye -__- No wonder my tummy was starting to make weird noises again, so I made myself a bowl of Korean Noodles, fast and easy, only unhealthy!

After eating I proceeded with dinner preparation. As I've defrost my chicken thigh earlier, I was excited of boiling myself a big pot of herbal chicken soup simply because I need to nourish my body with nutrients and supplements to combat a possible deterioration in health condition due to consumption of processed food- The Packet of Instant Korean Noodles.  After adding in all the ingredients into the pot and have the soup simmered for an hour, I decided to give it a taste. To my horror, the pot of soup reeked and had a rotten taste, I'll have to throw it away in lieu of getting food poisoning later! Disappointed much as my money burned off just like that, the herbs weren't cheap either :( In the end, I rummaged the refrigerator for vegetables and cooked myself a bowl of Vegetarian black pepper vermicelli instead. To comfort myself, at least my body still absorbed fibre for better digestion. Later it was just spending more time with my laptop.

That pretty much summarizes my Saturday for last weekend. It should be more fruitful the coming Saturday as I will not be staying home. Hehe.

Till Then.

Line Camera

I'm recently obsessed with a new Photo Editing App (Line Camera) on iPhone after one of my friend introduced it on Instagram. It is so addictive because of it's additional "Stamp" feature where you can choose from immense variety of stamps to add on to your photo, making your photo more enthralling :D

I couldn't stop playing with it and giggling to myself... Check out my masterpieces below! :D

Geeky Boi, still as cute as ever!
He looks great with sunnies too...

If you can guess who is this....HAHAHA :P

Andy got influenced by me and started playing with my photos too:

Nonetheless he was less mean as opposed to me :)

On an utterly irrelevant note, I finally booked my ticket to HONG KONG!!! I'll be spending 8 days there, this will also be my first time spending Christmas in Hong Kong! So excited as I know Christmas atmosphere in HK is magnificent; unlike Melbourne, so bland and boring, decorations mostly remain the same every year -_____-

Well actually, to be honest, I look forward to the shopping and food hunting more though :D I can't wait till the advent of December where I can take a break from my monotonous working life... *It will come, it will come, time flies*

CHIN CHIN

As mentioned in my previous entry, I was going to try out a new dining place called Chin Chin with Andy to celebrate our 6th month anniversary. On Friday evening itself, Andy picked me up from work at 4.30pm and off we headed to the CBD to hunt for parking. Sadly, my apartment does not come together with a parking space this time around, hence we'll have to pay for parking whenever we linger in the city, and it usually costs a bomb to park in the city so that's pretty bad but this is Melbourne and we know everything in Melbourne is about $$$ :(

Coming back to Chin Chin, we got there around 5pm and got seated right away. We were lucky to be there just 15 minutes before the crowd started coming in then followed by a queue that started to form right after. Apparently Chin Chin is always swamped with people at peak hours and the only way to secure a table without waiting is to be there early since the restaurant does not take in reservations.
Soon after we were seated and by only taking a glimpse at the menu, we reached out to the waitress to place our orders. I've done my research based on food blogs and Urbanspoon reviews, hence I know exactly what to order. We settled for an entree, 2 mains, a side dish and a dessert.
As depicted in the picture above, our first dish being served was Spicy Corn and Coriander Fritters with iceberg lettuce and Chilli Jam. Considering I've tried corn fritters in Izakaya Den (situated at 114 Russell Street) before, this dish didn't impress me much apart from the chilli jam that possessed a unique sweet and sour taste with a tinge of spiciness, nonetheless the fritters are bigger as compared to those served in Izakaya Den.
The next dish that we had was the "Son In Law Eggs", whereby hard-boiled eggs were deep-fried, cut into halves and topped with sweet and sour gravy. This dish was undoubtedly zesty however having being raised in a country that encompasses vast varieties of Asian food, I've certainly tasted better dishes.
Subsequently, we had the caramelised sticky pork for our next dish. From what I remember, the pork was deep-fried and served with caramel sauce as well as Vietnamese salad and dressing. I'm not a pork person hence I don't usually appreciate pork dishes a lot. This dish was not surprisingly scrumptious however rather palatable when pork was eaten together with the salad.
The final dish that we had was the Green Curry of Rocking Eggplant, Snake Beans, Thai Basil and Grilled Chicken. I regard this dish as pretty decent, a tad bit too sweet for my liking though. I still prefer the localized Malaysian style green curry that carries more spiciness.
As I've seen many good reviews regarding the desserts in Chin Chin, we decided to try the Oh-So-Famous Palm Sugar Ice-Cream Sundae with Salted Honeycomb and Lime Syrup. This was by far my most favorable order at Chin Chin as the honeycomb were just nice for chewing, in addition the lime syrup balanced up the overall flavor of the dessert therefore it does not taste too sweet.

On the whole it was still a fun dining experience despite it was a pity that I didn't get to try the Shredded Chicken and Spanner Crab salad because Andy can't eat seafood. Andy persuaded me to go ahead and order it but it costs $24 and I probably wouldn't be able to finish the whole plate by myself so I decided to forego :( It was apparently a dish that is TO DIE FOR according to many food bloggers! Sigh. Perhaps I'll only have that during my second visit to Chin Chin next time.

If you would like to give Chin Chin Restaurant a try:
125 Flinders Lane,

Last but not least, Happy 6th Month Anniversary :)
Wish we were in Paris! :p

AFTER A LONG TIME

It has been a long time since I last blogged, reason being not having interesting posts or pictures to entice readers. Although my life is still mediocre as usual, nevertheless, inspired by some blogs that I've been following lately, I abruptly have this impetus to start up a whole new blog all over again. I'm technically sacrificing my TVB drama sessions for this today :)

On a different note, winter in Melbourne arrived early again this year. It has been freezing cold for the past few days, with a temperature of between 7-16 degrees each day. To make things worse, the cold weather is also accompanied by heavy rain (Melbourne Standard) and enormously strong wind that would wreck your umbrella in a second, leaving you all wet by the time you arrive at your destination.

Wish I could wrap myself under my 3 layers of blanket every morning. That's correct, I need 3 freaking blankets to keep myself warm and have a good night sleep. The first layer that covers my body will be the wool blanket that I bought from KL 4 years back, second layer is the down feather blanket that was given by my grand aunt, finally ensued by a thin polyester blanket that I use as a bedspread as well. Nonetheless having to bear work responsibilities and ethics, one does not simply call in sick just because one wants to sleep in
:(

On a brighter side, with a job one gets paid and thereafter has more $$$ to spend more on shopping, travelling and better food. I reckon everyone every labor has the same drive to go to work every morning. Hence, self-employed is awesome as one does not have to be abide by rules stipulated in an employment contract yet enjoying the above mentioned activities. But I wonder when would this opportunity happen in my life though, I would need a large influx of cash and MBA knowledge. I'll need a concrete plan for this later :p

It is bed time, and tomorrow is Friday! I'm going to celebrate my 6th month anniversary with Andy and trying out one of the fusion cuisine in the CBD namely "CHIN CHIN".. Can't wait to satisfy my tummy....... :D

Till then.
